Grandview Heights Bobcats Varsity fell behind early and couldn’t come back in an 8-2 loss to Columbus Academy on Monday. Columbus Academy took the lead on a sacrifice fly in the first inning.
The Grandview Heights Bobcats Varsity struggled to contain the high-powered offense of Columbus Academy, giving up eight runs.
In the first inning, Columbus Academy got their offense started. B Hess’s sac fly scored one run for Columbus Academy.
Columbus Academy scored three runs in the third inning. Columbus Academy big bats were led by Peter Tsung and Keiran Gorospe, all sending runners across the plate with RBIs in the inning.
Hess was the winning pitcher for Columbus Academy. Hess allowed four hits and two runs over five and two-thirds innings, striking out seven. Tanner Compton threw one and one-third innings in relief out of the bullpen.
Jack Greer took the loss for Grandview Heights Bobcats Varsity. The southpaw surrendered six runs on five hits over four innings, striking out two.
Jacob Larson, Johnny Clark, Jackson Larson, Greer, and Jake Zimmerman each managed one hit to lead Grandview Heights Bobcats Varsity.
Columbus Academy tallied seven hits. Hess and D Ritzenthaler each managed multiple hits for Columbus Academy. Columbus Academy was sure-handed and didn’t commit a single error. J Hill made the most plays with ten.
